PROCRASTINATION<\/p>\n
It\u2019s been way too long since I\u2019ve posted to this blog.\u00a0 I have many excuses.\u00a0 Mainly, since I was involuntarily retired in August, I\u2019ve been contemplating an \u201cencore transition.\u201d\u00a0 What now?\u00a0 Finally, I have time to write, and I did, for awhile.\u00a0 I wrote furiously.\u00a0 Finally, I started writing my memoir.\u00a0 It took me to familiar and unfamiliar places.\u00a0 I wondered why I was writing it, so I stopped writing.\u00a0 But, amongst other things, I\u2019ve been reading.<\/p>\n
I just finished reading The Fortune Cookie Chronicles<\/em> by Jennifer 8. Lee.\u00a0 Loved this book.\u00a0 A wealth of information gathered around the topic of fortune cookies!\u00a0 I was most interested in the immigration of Chinese restaurant workers. Although my father worked in the famous Minneapolis Nankin Caf\u00e9 most of his life, he didn\u2019t come to this country to work in a Chinese restaurant, but that is where he ended up.<\/p>\n Fortune cookies were actually a Japanese creation, not Chinese, and are mostly an American phenomenon.\u00a0 Applause to Lee for her detailed research that spanned the globe.<\/p>\n I will get back to writing my memoir, and hopefully will post more often to this blog.\u00a0 Meanwhile, writers have been asking for my help with what they\u2019ve written.\u00a0 I enjoy working with other writers and promoting their work.\u00a0 I also enjoy the time I now have to spend with family and friends.\u00a0 Eventually I will find a new job, but until then I will do all the things I love to do-and even some that are difficult, like writing.<\/p>\n Peace, health, and happiness to us all in the upcoming new year!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" PROCRASTINATION It\u2019s been way too long since I\u2019ve posted to this blog.\u00a0 I have many excuses.\u00a0 Mainly, since I was involuntarily retired in August, I\u2019ve been contemplating an \u201cencore transition.\u201d\u00a0 What now?\u00a0 Finally, I have time to write, and I did, for awhile.\u00a0 I wrote furiously.\u00a0 Finally, I started writing …<\/p>\n
